Subjects Taught

In May of 1998, I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in English from North Carolina Central University.

In December 2004, I received my Master's degree in Human Relations (MHR) from the University of Oklahoma.

In May 2017, I received my Master of Library Science (MLS) from North Carolina Central University.

Shortly after I graduated from NCCU with my BA in Elementary Education, I joined the United States Navy.  I served seven years active duty and received my MHR before transferring to the Navy Reserves.  I deployed with my NAVELSG Forward Kilo Battalion to Kuwait in December 2009 and returned home in October 2010.  In February 2011 I took a mid year position teaching 4th grade Science and Social Studies classes at O.R. Pope Elementary School in Rocky Mount.  The following 2 years I taught first grade Math, Language Arts, Science & Social Studies.  In January 2014, I completed Annual Training in Bahrain with the Reserves and in February, I deployed with NATO Forces to ISAF Headquarters, Kabul Afghanistan.  When I returned home in February 2015, I went back to school full time and completed my MLS just in time to start the 2017-2018 here at Margaret Hearne Elementary School.  I love this school and look forward to encouraging & inspiring our students to take on the world and win!
