Our mission is to improve academic achievement for all students and to ensure that all students graduate from high school prepared for college, careers, and life.

About Hearne Elementary

  • Hearne is the oldest school in operation in Wilson County named after a former teacher, Margaret Hearne.  It was formerly known as Maplewood School.  

  • Title I school

  • 1:1 iPads for K-5

  • SmartBoards in every classroom

  • WiFi throughout the school

  • First school in our district to host a Spanish Immersion program;  We now have Spanish Immersion in kindergarten and 1st grade.  

  • Partner with Communities In Schools (CIS) for school supplies, mentors and other needs that may arise.

  • Church partnerships with First United Methodist Church and Peace Church

  • Parents who would like to work toward earning their GED can come to Hearne 4 days each week for GED classes through our C.A.P.E program offered through Wilson Community College.

  • Students from Wilson Early College Academy volunteer for one hour each day at Hearne to earn a high school credit in Success 101.
